There is a quotation attributed to Albert Einstein
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”
Many people don’t realise that the brain doesn’t know the difference between what is real and what isn’t. For instance the brain can be fooled into thinking you are smiling by just holding a pen or pencil between your teeth. That one simple act can help to lighten your mood as the brain is “fooled” into thinking you are happy.
We are also capable of re-educating our minds with regard to breaking long standing unwanted habits, in simple steps we can break out of the unwanted chains that bind us.
For example by remembering each night and writing down just three things that you are grateful for can make all the difference. They can be as simple as you like, for example I made myself a nice cup of tea or one was made for me, or perhaps you noticed the bird song today, or how the sunshine made you feel.
Just by noting down those three things at the end of each day within a couple of weeks your brain will be on the lookout throughout your day for the positives in your life. It will help to retrain you to think in a more happy, outgoing and positive way. It will make a difference if you do it each night before you go to sleep.
Laughter and imagination can go together, for instance I doubt there are many of you who won’t raise a smile whilst watching this short film:
Because as Henry Ford said: “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.” Look at all he achieved, his imagination wasn’t limited at all, apart from when it came to the colour of his original cars!
So what difference would take place in your life if your lifted the restrictions and let your imagination guide you? What would you want to achieve, do or see that you aren’t now?
Do you need help to lift those blinkers, if so then for a no obligation chat please either email or phone me, because it is good to remember that nothing has to be the way it has always been.
